As an educator with almost two decades of experience, Tamara Lewis began her career working with students with exceptional needs. During this time, she realized that students that had the most challenges outside of medical disabilities all had one thing in common: they lacked reading and social skills, as well as emotional connection with their learning environment.

As a graduate of the University of Memphis with a Bachelor's degree is Psychology, Tamara initially began her career in education as an engagement specialist and academic tutor for children ages 3-18 with a Memphis area nonprofit agency. Tamara continued her education at National University in La Jolla, California, where she received her Master’s degree and Specialization Education and Teaching. During this time, she continued to study educational methodology and developed techniques to implement for a personalized structure in the learning environment. Special populations (i.e. students with special needs, behavior challenges) specifically have benefited from this approach of academic mentorship as well as hundreds of tutoring clients.

Continuing to hone her craft, Tamara received her Educational Specialist degree in Professional Counseling from the University of Memphis in 2015. Fusing academia with a social-emotional approach have shown meaningful outcomes which drives her mission with Tutor Mentors: to provide personalized experience through academic support and mentorship.
